The Salivary Hormones panel is a convenient, comprehensive test that analyzes measurements of reproductive and metabolic hormones. This panel assesses both individual hormones to determine imbalances as well as metabolites that provide information on affected downstream pathways. This combination helps detect underlying causes of hormone imbalance and identifies disease risks associated with individual hormone metabolites.

Description

Salivary Hormones Test

The Salivary Hormones test measures levels of important reproductive and metabolic hormones in the body that relate to energy, weight fluctuations, water retention, muscle loss or gain, sleep, mood, and cognitive function. The primary benefit of salivary testing is that steroid hormones collected from saliva are unconjugated and/or bioavailable rather than the total, or protein bound hormones which are typically measured in serum. Hormones are essential chemical messengers which regulate routine processes in the body. This test is helpful in the evaluation of sex steroid imbalance such as deficiency or excess of estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone/DHEAS-S. This panel also helps to assess adrenal function and conditions relating to excess or deficiency of cortisol, as well as HPA axis imbalance. Adrenal function testing can also offer insight into neurotransmitter levels and mood disorders.Symptoms IncludeDo you struggle with these symptoms?

Why is This Test Important?90% of women seek out their healthcare provider for advice on how to cope with menopausal symptoms. By measuring the entire steroid pathway of hormones and metabolites, you can gain information about situational factors related to genetics, environment, nutrition, and inflammation that influence hormone pathways, enzymes, and metabolite production. Hormone imbalances can affect a range of body functions, negatively affect quality of life, and increase the risk of hormone-related diseases such as hormone-sensitive cancers. Assessment of sex and adrenal hormones is critical to differentiate hormonal imbalance from other common conditions with overlapping symptoms. Hormones, especially adrenal hormones, are interconnected with neurotransmitters. An imbalance in adrenal and sex hormones could lead to neurotransmitter imbalances which could revert to cause hormonal imbalances, resulting in a vicious cycle. The advantages of the at-home testUnparalleled specificity and sensitivity. Are Saliva Hormone Testing Kits recommended for women with fertility problems? Expand

Saliva hormone testing kits are often recommended for women experiencing fertility issues. These kits can be valuable tools in identifying hormonal imbalances or deficiencies that may be contributing to difficulties conceiving. By analyzing hormone levels in saliva, these tests can provide insights into the presence of hormones such as estrogen that are crucial for reproductive health. Moreover, if a woman is undergoing hormonal replacement therapy, saliva testing can help assess the effectiveness of the treatment regimen. Overall, employing saliva hormone testing kits can offer valuable information for women seeking to address fertility problems by pinpointing hormonal issues that may be affecting their reproductive health.

What time of day should I use the Saliva Hormone Testing Kit? Expand

When using a Saliva Hormone Testing Kit, it is crucial to consider the timing of your test. Hormone levels fluctuate throughout the day, so the time you take the test can significantly influence the results. For testing cortisol levels, it is advisable to take samples at different points in the day. Cortisol levels are highest in the morning and gradually decrease as the day progresses. To get a comprehensive understanding of your cortisol levels, consider taking samples in the morning and afternoon.

On the other hand, if you are testing your testosterone levels, it is recommended to take the test in the morning as this is when testosterone levels peak. It is important to follow the specific instructions provided in the testing kit to determine the best time for taking the saliva test, as the ideal timing may vary depending on the specific hormones being tested.

Should I stop using cosmetic products that contain hormones? Expand

It is recommended to avoid using cosmetic products that contain hormones 24 hours before conducting a saliva hormone test in order to ensure the accuracy of the test results. However, it is generally acceptable to continue using cosmetic products that do not contain hormones leading up to the saliva hormone test.

Do I have to fast or stop taking medications before use? Expand

Before testing: No need to fast. Your provider may ask you to discontinue medications or dietary supplements. Speak with your wellness provider to learn more. Each testing kit includes detailed instructions that outline specific fasting requirements or medication adjustments based on the hormone being tested. If you have questions about whether you need to fast or stop medications before using the test kit, consult your wellness provider for guidance. Send the test to our labs for analysis and work closely with your care provider to interpret and understand the results.

Should the individual avoid eating, drinking, and brushing teeth before testing in the morning? Expand
